beyond MY needs

Dearest E405,

recently i got this awesome revelation, which came quite timely in this season of retention. Im so excited to share it and hope it would bless you guys! ;)

In Exodus 16, on their way to the promise land,  the children of Israel continued their unceasing complaints; this time about the lack of food/bread. God graciously rained down bread from Heaven and Moses adviced them to “gather it according to each one’s needs”, and

ex 16:18 says

so when they measured it by omers, he who gathered MUCH had NOTHING left over, and he who gathered LITTLE had NO LACK. Every man had gathered according to each one’s need.

It dawned upon me that when we choose to focus only on ourselves- “i need… i need… i need…” and seek to fulfill all our ” I needs” ; basically be self-centred (like how those Israelites who according to what they THOUGHT they need, gathered MUCH), God will leave us to provide for ourselves by our human strength and abilities. And at the end of they day, we’ll remain ungrateful and hold that attitude of complain against God , questioning Him like as if He owes us something (which really, He doesnt!) ,” God, I serve you/love you…(blah blah blah), why havent you met my need??” (like how those who gathered much had NOTHING left over)

But those who choose to lift their eyes from themselves, hence certain that they have little needs (like those Israelites who gathered little), and instead channel their attention and energy towards meeting the needs of others, God will assuredly pour His supernatural grace, and work His hand through their lives to provide and ensure that they’ve got “NO LACK” as the bible speaks.

I am very challenged by this revelation to really step out far beyond my abilities and wants. It is common to feel tempted by the selfish nature of our flesh, but let’s all make a decision to carry the cross every day; not just the vertical beam, but the horizontal beam as well :)

Isnt it amazing?! :) If u’re worrying today- oh dear..ive got not enough money/ i havent done (this and that) hoooww God???/ im so miserable my life’s in a mess/ im not feeling as happy as i want to Etttcc……., and someone around you is hurting/needs help in one way or another, I would say, go and meet that person’s needs, and God will meet YOURS.

Love you guys and have a greeat week ahead!!,

Feli

HELLO E405!

Wishing all of you an advanced Happy Chinese New Year!

Lots of Love!

We all need to live.
We all need to love.
but more importantly, we all need to love living.

breaking_through_by_jeanettej

even if it means against all odds, we need to love living.
live high. live mighty. live righteously, takin’ it easy (Jason Mraz)

most important of all.
we need to love life.

Being Reliable.

“What will really fail in life? What do you want to avoid? Such an easy answer: sloth and unreliability. If you’re unreliable it doesn’t matter what your virtues are. Doing what you have faithfully engaged to do should be an automatic part of your conduct. You want to avoid sloth and unreliability.” – Charlie Munger

Hello all !

I just want to say that i am really thankful for each and everyone of you in E405, constantly showing care and concern and letting everyone feel loved and welcomed.

Anyway, just wanted to share something that i’ve learnt in camp and thanksgiving chalet. It happens to be the same verse :)

I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.                                                                                                 Philippians 3:14

We have to run this race with the right motive, decide how we want to finish the race, and not to look back. Pressing on even if it get’s tough and hard, Because we are running for God! He loves you and gives you strength to press on!

I’d just like to share a story called “the frog story”.

-Start-

There once was a bunch of tiny frogs who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants.

The race began…

No one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.

They heard statements such as :

“Oh, WAY too difficult! They will never make it to the top!”

or ,

“Not a chance that they will suceed. The tower is too high!”

The tiny frogs began collapsing, one by one ….

Except for those who in a fresh tempo were climbing higher and higher. The crowds began to yell.

“It’s too difficult! No one will make it!”

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up. But ONE continued higher and higher and higher… This one wouldn’t give up!

At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who after a big effort was the only one who reached the top!

THEN all of the other tiny frogs natuarally wanted to know how the tiny frog managed to do it.

A contestant asked the tiny frog how the one who succeeded had the stregth to reach the goal?

It turned out … That te winner was DEAF!!!

The wisdom of this story is : NEVER LISTEN TO OTHER PEOPLE’S TENDENCIES TO BE!!

-End-

The story tells us that we cannot get discouraged by what others say or think about you, because God doesn’t see us that way! :)

Here is a video of a lady running her first marathon.

If it can’t open, please go to Running my first marathon

Remember to be a good finisher !

Pastor Tan Seow How started the elective saying, “Effective Evangelism is really just training people how to be effective in the world out there.”

Many christians are good in the Steps of Invitation and Integration of new friends, but that’s not good enough. Being effective in evangelism is a lot more work, and it is definitely more than mass sending SMS to invite all our friends to church during  Christmas and Easter season. Before the stage of Invitation and Integration, we should all start with another step, which is Incubation.

Pastor showed us how salvation of a non-believer is likened to that of the re-creation of the earth.

Genesis 1:1-3
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

We are first been born likened to the creation of earth.
Entering into this world in sin, without spirtual form, living with a Christ-less void in our hearts and walking in darkness.
The Spirit of God began hovering over our lives and work in our hearts.
The Word of God was spoken into our heart and spirit, and when we are saved, we are reborn in the Spirit.

The word ‘hover’ in Hebrews means “Rachaph”, which is to brood, to incubate.
In the stage of Incubation, likened to that of a hen sitting on the egg waiting for it to hatch, we are to “sit” (prayer and fasting) on our friends and wait for them to “hatch” (been born again)!

incubation

As we can see in the picture above, Mrs hen incubate eggs in tens!
So we are to adopt our friends, get to know them better, meet their needs, enter into their world and pray pray pray and pray for them!
This is tough work but the end result is definitely worth it!

chicks

I got so encouraged by some members when I heard that they are praying and fasting for friends!
Inviting “new” friends to church is great, but without us first touching their lives, once they come and didn’t get saved, it will be much harder to get them back the second time. It’s what I call, the “I’ve seen it all” or the “I give you face liao mah” thingy.
I love what Pastor said during the Q&A session, “What can we do when we incubated our friends, invited them, but they are not integrated?”
“We go back to step one and sit on them again!”

Love,
Hui Ge =D

Pursuit Of Excellence.

“Excellence Is Not Something You Achieve; It Is Someone You Become.” – Robb Thompson

Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.- Aristotle

“Excellence is not an exception but a prevailing attitude.” – Colin Powell

Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.” – Pat Riley

In the world we live in today, excellence seemed to be a form of loss art.
it is okay to come in work late one minute, it doesn’t matter.
it is okay to hand in our work one minute late, it doesn’t matter, it is just ONE minute.
it is okay to be late while meeting someone.

just by this few mere examples, we can see that the lifestyle of excellence is long gone missing in the lives of many.

we are called to be the light of the world, the salt of the earth.

but honestly, to be that reflector of God, we need to carry the God-excellence in the way we do things.

because it is more than “the way we do things” but the attitude behind it.

excellence is not an act. it is an attitude. it is a lifestyle. it is a commitment everyday during the waking moments, you tell yourself i am going to pursuit excellence today, and it is a decision everyday.

i believe, because out of the heart that wants to shine for God, we need to be excellent people. that when people noticed the excellence in our lives, it makes us different. and together with the anointing, the insulation from church, the spiritual disciplines, the spiritual fruits we are able to bring Christ into culture.

let’s be people of excellence today.
it is a continual process of growth, none of us is there yet, including me but i do believe, we can try and strive for this lifestyle of excellence in our lives.

cheers.

hi guys and girls.

Asia conference has been great, but for me, if i were to share anything i would touch on one of my elective.

well i didn’t get to attend much electives, but i would say this is one elective i have no regrets attending or whatsover cause i’ve caught and learnt so much.

i was so blown away, and jacqueline tan’s passion for her previous job as PA deeply captured my focus and attention right from the moment she picked up the mic and speak.

wife of our deputy senior pastor, Rev Tan, jacqueline served pastor kong as his personal PA for a good 10 years.it wasn’t just about what she said about being a good pa, and what a pa attitude and belief system should be like. now, don’t get me wrong, the preaching was downright awesome but what’s more amazing was the spirit of impartation in the session.

she touched on how having a right belief would lead to carrying a right attitude and eventually leading to superior performance and results. she also talked about how having several right attitude such as love, loyalty and faithfulness is essential for being a good PA. she spoke of how one should not belittle good administration for good administration determines and support how far the church can grow, the ministry and the members can grow. and how well the members can be taken care of. spoke of a true blue shepherd’s heart for the church.

but beyond that, for me what i really really caught was the spirit of excellence.her excellence in each of the details in her work woah-ed me greatly. i could only sit there and let her excellence blown me away. her love for pastor kong propelled her to carry even more excellence that she already has.she said how she will think 2 to 3 steps ahead so she make sure things can be done in the excellent way.

quoting her “Assumption is the worst form of knowledge” tells us in plain simple words, the attitude she carries.

i went away from the meeting not just blown away, but determined to increase the level of excellence in my life. and i believe that’s the same for those who have attended this elective session.

mind-blowing.
