recently i got this awesome revelation, which came quite timely in this season of retention. Im so excited to share it and hope it would bless you guys!
In Exodus 16, on their way to the promise land, the children of Israel continued their unceasing complaints; this time about the lack of food/bread. God graciously rained down bread from Heaven and Moses adviced them to “gather it according to each one’s needs”, and
ex 16:18 says
so when they measured it by omers, he who gathered MUCH had NOTHING left over, and he who gathered LITTLE had NO LACK. Every man had gathered according to each one’s need.
It dawned upon me that when we choose to focus only on ourselves- “i need… i need… i need…” and seek to fulfill all our ” I needs” ; basically be self-centred (like how those Israelites who according to what they THOUGHT they need, gathered MUCH), God will leave us to provide for ourselves by our human strength and abilities. And at the end of they day, we’ll remain ungrateful and hold that attitude of complain against God , questioning Him like as if He owes us something (which really, He doesnt!) ,” God, I serve you/love you…(blah blah blah), why havent you met my need??” (like how those who gathered much had NOTHING left over)
But those who choose to lift their eyes from themselves, hence certain that they have little needs (like those Israelites who gathered little), and instead channel their attention and energy towards meeting the needs of others, God will assuredly pour His supernatural grace, and work His hand through their lives to provide and ensure that they’ve got “NO LACK” as the bible speaks.
I am very challenged by this revelation to really step out far beyond my abilities and wants. It is common to feel tempted by the selfish nature of our flesh, but let’s all make a decision to carry the cross every day; not just the vertical beam, but the horizontal beam as well
Isnt it amazing?! If u’re worrying today- oh dear..ive got not enough money/ i havent done (this and that) hoooww God???/ im so miserable my life’s in a mess/ im not feeling as happy as i want to Etttcc……., and someone around you is hurting/needs help in one way or another, I would say, go and meet that person’s needs, and God will meet YOURS.
“What will really fail in life? What do you want to avoid? Such an easy answer: sloth and unreliability. If you’re unreliable it doesn’t matter what your virtues are. Doing what you have faithfully engaged to do should be an automatic part of your conduct. You want to avoid sloth and unreliability.” – Charlie Munger
I just want to say that i am really thankful for each and everyone of you in E405, constantly showing care and concern and letting everyone feel loved and welcomed.
Anyway, just wanted to share something that i’ve learnt in camp and thanksgiving chalet. It happens to be the same verse
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
We have to run this race with the right motive, decide how we want to finish the race, and not to look back. Pressing on even if it get’s tough and hard, Because we are running for God! He loves you and gives you strength to press on!
I’d just like to share a story called “the frog story”.
-Start-
There once was a bunch of tiny frogs who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants.
The race began…
No one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.
They heard statements such as :
“Oh, WAY too difficult! They will never make it to the top!”
or ,
“Not a chance that they will suceed. The tower is too high!”
The tiny frogs began collapsing, one by one ….
Except for those who in a fresh tempo were climbing higher and higher. The crowds began to yell.
“It’s too difficult! No one will make it!”
More tiny frogs got tired and gave up. But ONE continued higher and higher and higher… This one wouldn’t give up!
At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who after a big effort was the only one who reached the top!
THEN all of the other tiny frogs natuarally wanted to know how the tiny frog managed to do it.
A contestant asked the tiny frog how the one who succeeded had the stregth to reach the goal?
It turned out … That te winner was DEAF!!!
The wisdom of this story is : NEVER LISTEN TO OTHER PEOPLE’S TENDENCIES TO BE!!
-End-
The story tells us that we cannot get discouraged by what others say or think about you, because God doesn’t see us that way!
Here is a video of a lady running her first marathon.
